Real Madrid earned a 2-1 win away to Real Sociedad yesterday.
Kylian Mbappé and Arda Guler gave Madrid 2-0 lead in the first half, before Mikel Oyarzabal’s penalty halved the deficit in the second half.
It could have worse for Madrid, with Dean Huijsen receiving a red card in the first half.
However, despite going a man down and only being one goal up, Madrid held on to maintain their perfect start to the season, with four wins out of four so far.
The decision to send off Huijsen was a controversial one according to manager Xabi Alonso.
He said: “For me it was a yellow card. Militao was close, the ball wasn’t under control, and there were still 40 meters left.
“That’s my interpretation. The referee had another one, and VAR should have had another one too, but I’ve seen the replay and I haven’t changed my mind. I asked him, he gave me his explanation, but I wasn’t entirely convinced. We’ll leave it at that.”
The club’s frustration with the refereeing in La Liga goes deeper.
Real Madrid to launch action to FIFA against referees
According to Real Madrid TV, the Spanish giants have not been happy with the standard of refereeing in Spain for some time.
They plan to take action against FIFA for the decision making by referees both this season and last season.
“Real Madrid is preparing a report with everything that has happened in these first four rounds of La Liga and what happened last season,”
“A dossier, that report, which is going to be submitted to FIFA so that they take good note of what is happening in Spanish football with regard to refereeing.”
There have been no comments from FIFA of note at time of writing.
