Chelsea might not wait long.

Chelsea successfully avoided a third straight defeat. They came back from behind to defeat Lincoln City in the EFL Cup on Tuesday night.

It is no surprise that some fringe players and young prospects got their minutes at Sincil Bank.

The club have signed plenty of young talent in recent windows. Some are with the first team. Others are out on loan at Strasbourg. But Chelsea still want more.

As per Fichajes, the Blues are now looking at another teenager from France.

Chelsea are showing interest in Mohamed Kader Meite. He is 17 and currently plays in Ligue 1. The club could move for him in 2026.

Meite will turn 18 next month. But he already has 17 Ligue 1 appearances under his belt.

In his last nine games, the France Under-19 international has found form. He scored against Nantes and twice against Lyon.

In the second Lyon match, he came off the bench for 21 minutes. He scored and assisted. Rennes won 3-1.

Meite is under contract until 2028. Rennes want to keep him. But they have done business with Chelsea before.

In 2023, Chelsea signed Lesley Ugochukwu from Rennes. The same club also sold Eduardo Camavinga.

Rennes are eighth in Ligue 1. They have lost just one of their first five matches this season.

Also, French side Strasbourg will soon need a new striker. Emanuel Emegha has already been confirmed as a Chelsea signing for next year.

Meite is not as experienced as Emegha. But Chelsea have signed young players from France before and sent them to Strasbourg.

This kind of move may frustrate the Strasbourg fans. Still, it fits the strategy. And if Meite keeps performing, Chelsea might not wait long.
