Real Madrid may have started the season strong. But behind the scenes, work has already begun for the next window.

The club wants to fill a gap in midfield. One player from Paris Saint-Germain is now being looked at as the top target.

According to El Nacional, both the board and Xabi Alonso are on the same page. They believe this signing is the right one.

Florentino Pérez has already acted. The Real Madrid president has reached a verbal agreement with Jorge Mendes, the agent of PSG star.

If the midfielder leaves Paris Saint-Germain, his next destination is expected to be the Santiago Bernabéu.

But PSG won’t make it easy. The French club value the Portuguese international at more than €80 million. That fee will force Madrid to structure a deal carefully.

Xabi Alonso has raised this concern in internal talks. He wants a midfielder who can take control of games and create from deep.

Federico Valverde and Jude Bellingham prefer more advanced roles. Eduardo Camavinga and Aurélien Tchouaméni thrive physically but don’t offer the same passing range.

So, that opens the door for Vitinha. The Portuguese international has shown at PSG that he can break lines, press high, and dictate the pace in midfield.

Also, Vitinha has been key in Luis Enrique’s setup. He just completed two standout seasons. This year, he finished third in the Ballon d’Or race.

Only Lamine Yamal and Ousmane Dembélé finished higher. Some believe he should have ranked even higher, based on his impact.

He averages 89% pass accuracy and creates 2.4 chances per game. At 24, he is already playing at a top level. Real Madrid’s results are good, but the attack is still adjusting.

Vinícius Junior isn’t at full sharpness. Rodrygo and Brahim Diaz haven’t fully stepped up. Franco Mastantuono needs more time.

If Madrid can pull it off, Vitinha could become a key figure at the Santiago Bernabeu for years to come.
