Chelsea are feeling confident after defeating Liverpool at Stamford Bridge this weekend. Also, the Blues are keeping an eye on the transfer market.
After an inconsistent start to the season, Enzo Maresca wants more firepower in attack. Chelsea’s midfielders have done the scoring, but the wingers have struggled.
So, the London club are ready to make a statement move. According to Fichajes, they are planning a £78 million offer for Bournemouth star Antoine Semenyo.
The Ghanaian forward has been sensational this season. He has already scored 6 times and assisted 3 times in just 7 Premier League matches. His form has turned heads across England.
Manchester United and Newcastle United were both keen on him in the summer. Reports claim that Ruben Amorim even met Semenyo in London to discuss a transfer to Old Trafford.
However, United refused to meet Bournemouth’s valuation, offering only £55 million. The Red Devils then switched focus to Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha and Benjamin Sesko instead.
That decision allowed Bournemouth to tie Semenyo down to a new long-term deal until 2030. But Chelsea’s interest changes everything. The Cherries want to keep him.
Yet a massive bid could test their resolve. Semenyo has now played 97 times for Bournemouth, scoring 28 goals and assisting 13 more since joining from Bristol City in 2023.
Chelsea’s attack, meanwhile, has been inconsistent. Both midfielders Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo are their joint top scorers with 3 goals.
Among attackers, only Joao Pedro and Cole Palmer have managed more than once. Estevao shows promise, but Jamie Gittens has struggled.
Pedro Neto has just one goal in ten games, while doubts remain about Alejandro Garnacho’s role in the system.
That is why Chelsea see Semenyo as the perfect fit. Proven in the Premier League and in peak form, he could transform their front line.
Signing him would be a huge statement of intent from the Blues and a warning to their rivals that Chelsea are ready to spend big again.
