The former Liverpool boss, Jurgen Klopp, has returned to football with a fresh challenge that has surprised many.

It is not a managerial comeback, nor a move to another club. This time, Klopp has chosen a role that takes him off the touchline and behind the scenes.

Months after ending his unforgettable spell at Anfield, Klopp has quietly stepped back into the game. His new position will see him work to reshape football from a very different angle.

The move is part of a wider project aimed at improving the structure, competitiveness, and long-term stability of German football.

According to DFL managing director Marc Lenz, the idea is to make the Bundesliga and German football ‘consistently competitive.’

To make that happen, top professionals and former players has formed a group to provide expertise and direction for the sport’s future.

That elite group includes Real Madrid legend Sami Khedira and several Bundesliga club chiefs and now, Jurgen Klopp himself.

The 58-year-old has officially joined the German Football League (DFL) as part of its new expert committee.

The role of this committee will focus on the development, growth, and the overall competitiveness of German football.

An official statement (via The Sun) confirmed that the committee’s first findings will be discussed in the spring of 2026. It marks Klopp’s first formal role in the game since leaving Liverpool earlier this year.

However, he will continue his duties with Red Bull, where he serves as Head of Global Soccer, overseeing clubs such as RB Leipzig, RB Salzburg, and New York Red Bulls.

The German’s responsibilities there include youth development, transfers, and coaching appointments.

Recently, Klopp made it clear that he no longer misses the pressure of full-time management.

Speaking to The Athletic, he said, “I didn’t even know when games started. I was just out, playing sports, spending time with the grandkids, and enjoying life.”

Even so, his influence in football is far from over. Klopp’s new advisory role keeps him connected to the game he transformed.
