It was yet another defeat in the Premier League for Liverpool in what has been a disastrous October.
In the space of one month, Liverpool have gone from unbeaten title favourites to a team that is more likely to challenge for a Champions League place than for a Premier League.
A 3-2 loss to Brentford yesterday makes it four straight losses in the Premier League, five out of the last six in all competitions.
This is a stark contrast to how they started the season, with five straight league victories as well as wins in the League Cup and UEFA Champions League.
A defeat to Crystal Palace at the end of September has been followed up with defeats to Chelsea, Galatasaray, Manchester United and now Brentford in October.
The result yesterday also means that Liverpool have as many losses (4) this season in the Premier League than the entirety of their title winning 2024/25 campaign, and only two of those losses came prior to being confirmed as champions.
Liverpool right now look in disarray and there appears to be no solution, despite almost half a billion pounds worth of signings this summer.
Virgil van Dijk makes his opinion clear after another Liverpool loss
Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk spoke after the game as he aims to try to lead this team back to winning games.
He said: “Everyone has to look in the mirror including myself.
“I am sure we will get out of this. But we won’t do it just by talking about it. We will try to improve.
“The fans who were celebrating with us last season should stand by us now.”
Liverpool next face Palace in the League Cup on Wednesday night before a Premier League game next Saturday evening with Aston Villa at Anfield.
