After beating Real Madrid 5-2 in September, they have won just twice in all competitions since.

Two of the goals scored in the home win over Real were from striker Julián Álvarez, who has enjoyed a successful time for Diego Simeone’s side.

In 68 appearances across all competitions, Álvarez has netted 36 goals and 11 assists for Atlético.

This amounts to a goal in 52% of his appearances for the club.

Such a run of form has seen many of the top clubs linked with the Argentine international’s services.

Most notably, FC Barcelona have been heavily rumoured to sign the 2022 FIFA World Cup winner due to the uncertainty around striker Robert Lewandowski’s future with the Catalan side.

Álvarez has won every trophy available, being part of the Manchester City side that won the treble in the 2022/23 season, winning an additional Premier League, as well as the FIFA Club World Cup and UEFA Super Cup.

Prior to his move to City, he won the Argentine Primera División, Copa Argentina and Copa Libertadores with River Plate.

Álvarez has been a part of some successful sides and this is bound to be on the minds of teams when they see someone with as deep a trophy cabinet as he possesses.

Diego Simeone speaks on Julián Álvarez  future

Simeone spoke on the future of the former City striker.

“I don’t get involved in contracts but I see him happy to be here.

“The club knows what’s best for the club. I see Julián fully committed.”

With the age and talent that Álvarez possesses, it would be a crazy decision to allow him to leave the club.
