The second season of the Baller League returned on Monday after a thrilling debut in the United Kingdom.
The six-a-side tournament, known for its entertainment and celebrity involvement, once again captured the attention of fans.
Each side has a famous face as manager, including stars like Chloe Kelly and Daniel Sturridge.
However, the loudest buzz came from YouTuber and team boss Niko Omilana.
Before kick-off, he sent shockwaves through social media with a bold claim. Omilana said:
“Ladies and gentlemen, I am about to tell you guys probably the craziest news in the Baller League’s history.”
“On Monday, the 27th of October, I, Niko Omilana, the manager of the NDL FC, will be drafting an actual Premier League player, active.
“Can’t tell you who it is, we will get in a lot of trouble, it is going to go crazy.”
That statement was enough to send fans into frenzy. Soon after, a masked player entered the pitch wearing a black ski mask and long sleeves.
He was introduced only for set-piece situations, leaving many convinced they had just witnessed a top-flight footballer hiding in plain sight.
At first, supporters speculated that the mystery man was Chelsea’s Mykhailo Mudryk, who is currently serving a suspension.
However, The Daily Mail later confirmed that the masked player was not Mudryk.
According to multiple reports, the supposed Premier League star was actually Kevin Weggen, a German amateur footballer.
While commentators built excitement around the masked appearance, Weggen has never played in the Premier League.
He currently represents Calcio Berlin and has also featured for lower-league clubs like FC Wegberg-Beeck and SV Straelen.
Footage from his recent matches revealed an identical right-footed free-kick stance and shooting technique to that of the masked player. Fans quickly connected the dots.
