Manchester City played Borussia Dortmund this week in the Champions League. The Citizens cruised to a victory by 4-1. However, a Liverpool legend is making headlines from that game.

Apparently, the former Champions League winner was stopped at the gate of the Etihad Stadium before the game.

According to reports from The Daily Mail, the former Liverpool star wanted to support Borussia Dortmund. But Manchester City didn’t allow him to sit and watch the game with Dortmund fans.

So, Jamie Carragher’s latest Champions League adventure took a dramatic twist in Manchester.

The former Liverpool star and current CBS Sports pundit found himself at the centre of a surprising off-field story, as UEFA and City blocked his entrance to a Champions League game.

Carragher joined Dortmund’s fans in the city centre and marched with them toward the Etihad. He looked set to repeat the unforgettable scenes from last season’s semi-final in Germany.

In 2024, the 47-year-old famously spent a boozy night inside the club’s iconic Yellow Wall during their Champions League semi-final against Paris Saint-Germain.

Therefore, when Dortmund returned to the European stage against City, Carragher was eager to relive that experience once again, but this time on English soil.

Jamie Carragher requested to sit with the Dortmund fans through CBS Sports and watch the game.

However, UEFA and Manchester City reportedly feared the move could inflame tensions inside the stadium. The reason was Carragher being a former Liverpool man.

Thus, Carragher’s interaction with Dortmund’s supporters ended at the stadium gates, and he was escorted to the CBS commentary area instead.
