Manchester City dominated Liverpool at the Etihad this weekend in a thumping 3-0 win. Erling Haaland, Nico Gonzalez, and Jeremy Doku were among the scorers for the Citizens.
Pep Guardiola’s men started their season slowly. But now, they are climbing back to the title challenge.
And, perhaps they are the only viable challenger for Arsenal for the Premier League title. Pep Guardiola has adapted his playing style to the players he has right now.
At the start of the season, he was missing a player like Kevin De Bruyne. Pep still knows that adding a playmaker like the Belgian could change everything for City.
That is why he has set his sights on a Liverpool player. However, Guardiola is not the only person looking to sign him.
Real Madrid boss Xabi Alonso also wants to sign a creative player. The draw against Ray Vallecano showed Los Blancos what they are missing.
So, when they came to visit Anfield during their Champions League clash against Liverpool, the Real Madrid boss was happy to see the game of one player.
And now, Xabi Alonso has also set his sights on the same Liverpool player Pep Guardiola also wants to sign for Manchester City.
According to Spanish outlet AS, both Real Madrid and Manchester City are eyeing a move for Dominik Szoboszlai.
The Hungarian has been a key part of the Liverpool squad since his arrival from RB Leipzig. Under Arne Slot, he has taken his game to a whole new level.
Szoboszlai played a key role last year, when Liverpool won their 20th league title and 2nd Premier League title in their history.
However, there are reports that the Reds are ready to offer the 25-year-old a new contract. His current contract ends in 2028.
So, signing Szoboszlai for either Manchester City or Real Madrid will not be an easy job, as Liverpool look to hold onto their key midfielder.
