Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly has stepped into a major business move. The American investor has been putting money into the London club since he took charge.
However, it is fair to see that some of his investments were not wise for the Blues. Also, he has fired several managers, which at times looked too hasty.
Now, under Enzo Maresca, it looks like the Blues are finally getting some stability. And, the results are also appearing in the field.
Chelsea won the Club World Cup this summer and were also the champions of the Conference League last year.
This season, the Blues started their campaign slowly. However, they are picking up the pace and currently, they are in the third position in the Premier League table.
A win in their next game will send them to second and close the gap between them and the leaders Arsenal by three points.
That is why Enzo Maresca will be looking to strengthen his squad in the January window. The Italian would want the Chelsea board to invest so that he can secure a Champions League spot.
Meanwhile, the Chelsea co-owner, Todd Boehly, is ready to invest. But his current investment will not go to the London club.
According to Financial Times, the American investor is putting money into Gopuff as part of a £190m round. Eldridge Industries and Valor Equity Partners are leading the deal.
Gopuff confirmed the investment to the Financial Times. Founded in 2013, the company built its name on ultra-fast delivery.
It delivers items such as snacks, toiletries, and medicines in minutes. However, the new deal signals a huge shift. The valuation has dropped to £6.7bn from £12bn during the pandemic peak.
However, Boehly still believes in the project. He has taken a hands-on role and wants to help the company grow again.
Boehly will be expecting to replicate the same success he had in his other investments, such as the Chelsea Football Club, with Gopuff.
