Germany will face Slovakia with a place in the World Cup next year on the line. Slovakia need to win to ensure direct qualification.
However, a draw or a win for the Germans will seal their fate. In their previous meeting with the Slovaks, the Germans lost by 2-0.
So, Julian Nagelsmann’s men will be wary of the threat they could come up against in that game at the Red Bull Arena in Leipzig.
However, before the game, the German team had already suffered a big setback. One of their star forwards has been fined for possessing illegal weapons.
According to German outlet BILD, Karim Adeyemi possessed a couple of prohibited items with him: a Taser and a brass knuckle.
The 23-year-old will pay a fine of €7,500 for 60 days, which cumulates to a sum of around €450k. The DFB has not made any official comment on the matter.
However, BILD sources has confirmed that the German team will not put any sanctions on him, especially when Germany needs him for a crucial game.
There have been ‘internal talks’ between Adeyemi, Nagelsmann, and Sporting Director Rudi Voller. And, they have set a ‘clear focus’ on the game against Slovakia.
Adeyemi has also become a target for Manchester United in recent days. Also, Arsenal are monitoring his situation.
This season, the German international has played 14 games for Borussia Dortmund in all competitions, scoring 3 goals and assisting the same number of times.
🚨 Karim Adeyemi’s strained relationship with Niko Kovač could push him towards a Borussia Dortmund exit.
Manchester United are leading the chase, and his agent Jorge Mendes is said to have already started working on a potential move. Dortmund, however, are unwilling to sell… pic.twitter.com/6NFlTTiWtZ
