League Cup draw turns into a farce as anti-Tottenham Hotspur comments are made

The quarter-final and semi-final draws were streamed live on TikTok

Tottenham have demanded clarity from WSL Football after a chaotic Women’s League Cup draw left the club deeply unimpressed.

The quarter-final and semi-final draws were streamed live on TikTok, hosted by influencer GK Barry and Portsmouth player Ella Rutherford. What followed stunned Spurs officials.

Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal, Crystal Palace, West Ham United, and Tottenham were in the League Cup draw.

Moments after Tottenham’s ball was pulled out, Barry joked, “What do we think of Tottenham?”  It is the opening line of a well-known anti-Spurs chant.

WSL Football issued an immediate apology (as The Athletic reported), admitting the comment should never have been made.

The Spurs are furious, with club officials holding internal meetings to decide their next steps.

They have requested the full footage of the draw, but as of Wednesday morning, nothing had been provided despite assurances.

Beyond the remark, the process itself descended into farce. Barry made several innuendos and even pulled a ball from the bag, put it back, and then drew it again.

An adjudicator present insisted the same ball had been selected both times, preventing a full restart of the draw. Spurs accept the matchups but now question the integrity of the entire production.

Clips of the event have circulated online, but WSL Football have not posted an official replay.

The choice to run the draw on TikTok and to use Barry and Rutherford as hosts was intended to attract a younger audience, with rehearsals reportedly held in advance.

Tottenham will now face Manchester United in the quarter-finals, while the winner will take on either Crystal Palace or Arsenal.

Also, Liverpool meet Chelsea on the other side of the draw, with Manchester City travelling to West Ham.
