The suspension is understood to stem partly from comments he made during the international break.

Chelsea surprisingly lost to Leeds United in the midweek in the Premier League by 3-1. After a resilient performance against the table toppers Arsenal, they were expected to win this game.

However, they lost to that side that is trying to survive in the top-flight division of English football. So, the hope of a title charge is slowing fading away for Enzo Maresca’s men.

Now, Chelsea-bound striker has been suspended by his current club just months before his move to Stamford Bridge becomes official.

The Dutch forward is set to sign a seven-year contract with Chelsea next summer after a pre-agreed September deal.

He has been dropped from the squad following what the club described as a failure to meet “values, expectations and rules”.

Strasbourg, managed by Liam Rosenior, confirmed the decision in a firm statement stressing their commitment to discipline and collective standards.

Emmanuel Emegha, who has scored seven goals in 11 appearances this season, will be reintegrated after the weekend.

But the internal fallout has raised eyebrows, particularly given his status as club captain.

The suspension is understood to stem partly from comments he made during the international break.

He admitted believing Strasbourg was in Germany before signing. Given the region’s sensitive history, the remarks did not land well within the club.

Discussions with Rosenior, President Marc Keller, and senior staff led to the disciplinary action.

Emegha has since accepted the decision, acknowledging mistakes and insisting he remains committed to Strasbourg for the remainder of the season.

He expressed pride in captaining the club and vowed to improve both on and off the pitch.

Chelsea, who have increasingly used Strasbourg as a development hub under BlueCo ownership, will continue to monitor the situation ahead of his arrival next summer.
