Manchester clubs are keeping a close eye on Pedro Porro’s situation at Tottenham Hotspur. They are planning for defensive reinforcements ahead of next season.
Manchester City will enter the market for a new right-back, and Porro has once again emerged as a serious candidate.
Also, Manchester United will be searching for a new right-wing back if they decide to sell Diogo Dalot.
Moreover, Amad Diallo offers a lot going forward. But defensively, he struggles at times. That is why United might look to bring in a right-back next summer.
However, any potential move would be far from straightforward. Tottenham are determined to retain the Spanish defender.
The Spurs are already in talks over a new long-term contract that would extend his stay beyond 2028.
Porro’s connection with Manchester is not new. The Citizens signed him from Girona in 2019 for a reported £11 million.
However, he never made a senior appearance at the Etihad Stadium. Instead, he spent time on loan at Real Valladolid and Sporting CP before completing a permanent switch to Lisbon.
It was at Sporting where Porro’s career truly took off. He became one of Europe’s most effective attacking right-backs.
His development earned him a £39 million move to Tottenham Hotspur in 2023, where he has continued to evolve.
According to TEAMtalk, City’s recruitment staff are understood to admire how Porro’s game has matured since leaving Manchester.
Pep Guardiola sees him playing a similar role to that of Joao Cancelo at his peak at Manchester City.
Manchester City are aware that the Spurs might block Porro’s exit. But they are still continuing to track his situation.
Also, they are monitoring Newcastle United’s Tino Livramento as part of a broader defensive reinforcement.
Whether Porro’s path ultimately leads back to Manchester remains uncertain. Yet, Manchester City’s interest ensures his future will remain a talking point over the coming months.
🚨 Manchester City are keeping tabs on Pedro Porro’s situation, with Tottenham Hotspur working to renew the right-back’s contract beyond its 2028 expiry.
Spurs are willing to give the 26-year-old a significant pay rise as they aim to see off interest from other clubs.
