David Orsetein has already dropped a bombshell. Manchester City are already preparing for their future. They are looking at possible replacements for Pep Guardiola.
This will shock Manchester City fans because, after a poor season last year, Pep Guardiola is finally turning things around at Manchester City.
The Citizens are just two points behind the Premier League leaders, Arsenal. And, the way things are shaping up, Pep’s men will throw Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal a solid title challenge.
However, if Pep Guardiola leaves, it will not only change the direction of the club but also change their transfer targets.
Meanwhile, Ornstein has mentioned that the current Chelsea boss, Enzo Maresca, is one of the names under consideration to replace Guardiola.
Maresca has done a solid job with the Blues so far. Under him, Chelsea have won the Conference League and the FIFA Club World Cup.
So, the Italian is surely one of the names under consideration. He also mentioned that his relationship with the Chelsea hierarchy is not going so well.
However, Ornstein did mention that there will be other names on City’s list as well. One of those names has to be Vincent Kompany.
The Manchester City legend did have the experience of managing in the Premier League when he managed Burnley.
However, since leaving the Clarets, the Belgian has joined Bayern Munich. And, it looks like he is on his way to winning the Bundesliga title two seasons in a row.
Also, there is another name the Citizens might consider, the man who dethroned Bayern Munich in Germany: Xabi Alonso.
Currently at Real Madrid, Alonso is not having a great time. He even recently lost a Champions League game against Manchester City.
However, the pedigree he showed at Bayer Leverkusen, Manchester City can easily turn to him if Madrid decide to sack the Spaniard.
Thus, if Pep Guardiola decides to leave, Manchester City will have many names on their list to find the right man to replace the living legend.
