The transfer of Antoine Semenyo will be one of the most talked-about topics this January. Multiple big-six clubs are tracking the attacker closely.
At this stage, Manchester City are seen as the frontrunners ahead of Liverpool and Manchester United. Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea are no longer in contention.
Manchester City have already held talks with Semenyo over a potential move. Liverpool are also still pushing.
So, as things stand, it appears to be a three-horse race, and a hijack of this deal cannot be ruled out at this moment.
Liverpool are growing increasingly concerned about their chances of signing Antoine Semenyo. As per Football Insider, the club expect strong competition in January.
The Reds have already made contact with Bournemouth. They explored the possibility of triggering the release clause in Semenyo’s contract early in the winter window.
However, there is now doubt over whether that will be enough. The Premier League champions believe Semenyo would prefer a move elsewhere.
Semenyo has been one of the standout performers in the Premier League this season. His form has made a January exit from Bournemouth almost inevitable.
Thus, the Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola has already admitted the club may be powerless to stop a move. That admission has only intensified interest from the top sides.
Caught in the middle are AFC Bournemouth. The Cherries have relied heavily on Semenyo this season. That reliance has increased after several key players left in the summer.
So, these numbers explain the interest. Semenyo has scored eight goals in his first 16 Premier League matches. He has also registered three assists in that period.
Because of that, Iraola is keen to keep him. For now, Semenyo is still a Bournemouth player. But with January approaching, the battle for his signature is reaching a decisive stage.
