Tottenham Hotspur set Micky van de Ven transfer price

Tottenham hold a strong negotiating position.

Tottenham Hotspur have made their stance clear on Micky van de Ven. The North London club have no plans to sell the defender unless their valuation is met.

And it is a number designed to scare off even the richest suitors. Van de Ven joined Tottenham from Wolfsburg in 2023 for an initial £34.5 million, with add-ons potentially taking the deal to £43 million.

Since then, the Dutch international has established himself as one of Spurs’ most important players.

Injuries have disrupted parts of his time in England, particularly recurring hamstring problems, but when fit, his importance has been obvious.

This season, he has largely stayed available and has already made 29 appearances across all competitions.

Despite Tottenham’s struggles in the Premier League under Thomas Frank, Van de Ven’s reputation continues to rise.

According to several reports, Liverpool are developing a strong interest in the 24-year-old and are considering a summer move.

With Virgil van Dijk entering the latter stages of his career and uncertainty surrounding Ibrahima Konaté’s future, Liverpool are prioritising a new central defender.

However, Tottenham hold a strong negotiating position. Van de Ven is under contract until 2029, and there is no pressure to cash in.

TEAMtalk report that Spurs have placed a £100 million valuation on the defender. That figure would make him the most expensive defender in football history.

Liverpool are expected to spend again in the summer, but the size of the fee could prove prohibitive, especially after their heavy outlay in the 2025 window.
