A Real Madrid legend is eyeing a move back to Santiago Bernabeu. After the loss against Benfica, things have gone from bad to worse for the Spanish giants.
Florentino Perez is now ready to do everything he can to bring Madrid back to where they belong. That is why he may not shy away from bringing back a former player to the club.
After falling out with his current club, the Real Madrid legend’s representatives have already held talks with the Los Blancos for a possible return to the club.
As per Fichajes, Karim Benzema could be on the verge of a sensational return to Real Madrid. The 38-year-old striker has fallen out with his current club, Al-Ittihad.
The talks over his contract extension have stalled in recent weeks. Benzema joined the Saudi club in 2023 after ending a legendary spell at the Bernabeu.
He has scored 54 goals in 83 appearances for the Saudi Pro League club. His current contract will expire in June 2026.
According to Ben Jacobs, Al-Ittihad initially offered a lucrative contract to Benzema. But now, they have changed the proposal and are pushing for a pay cut, and the Frenchman is not happy with it.
Benzema reportedly informed the club that he didn’t want to play for them again. So he was left out of the squad for the clash against Al Fateh.
The report claims that Benzema’s agent has already made contact with Real Madrid to explore the possibility of a return.
Benzema remains one of the greatest players in the club’s modern history. He scored 354 goals for Real Madrid and was a central figure during their most dominant era in Europe.
🚨 Understand Karim Benzema has asked to be excluded from the Al-Ittihad squad to face Al-Fateh on Thursday.
It follows unproductive contract extension talks between the French striker and Al-Ittihad.
