A former Premier League star has walked away from his club with immediate effect after racial abuse. He made it clear that protecting his children comes above everything else.

He has quit his club just five months after joining them. The 28-year-old took to social media to explain his decision.

The player insisted that while he can deal with personal attacks, he will never tolerate abuse directed at his family.

The former Newcastle United winger, Allan Saint-Maximin, revealed that his children became a target. He could not bear it and decided to leave Club America.

In a powerful Instagram post, Saint-Maximin made his stance clear. He said the issue was not skin colour but “the colour of people’s thoughts”.

He stressed that hate and discrimination have no place in society. While he said he had learned to fight back against attacks throughout his life, he drew a firm line when it came to his children.

Club America quickly issued a statement backing the player, expressing full solidarity with Saint-Maximin and his family.

The club strongly condemned all forms of discrimination and violence and reiterated its commitment to respect, inclusion, and human dignity. The statement read:

“We reiterate our strong condemnation of any act of discrimination and/or violence that violates human dignity, both on and off the field.

“We express our absolute solidarity with Allan Saint-Maximin and his family, who have the support of everyone who is part of this institution.

“Let’s say No to Racism! and promote respect, inclusion and the values that society requires.”

However, Saint-Maximin had already made his decision. He later followed up with another emotional message, reflecting on his life and career.

Saint-Maximin previously spent four years in the Premier League at Newcastle United before moving to Al Ahli in the Saudi Pro League.
