Mohamed Salah has emerged as the leading transfer target for the Saudi Pro League side after one of their superstars left the club.
This is the first time a Saudi Pro League club has shown interest in the Egyptian. Without any doubt, Cristiano Ronaldo is the face of the Saudi league.
However, the management wanted to bring Mohamed Salah for a long time and make him the face of their league.
According to winwin, a PIF-backed club are preparing to make a renewed push for the Liverpool forward as they look to replace a former Ballon d’Or winner.
Liverpool’s season has been inconsistent, despite recent improvements. A 4-1 win over Newcastle at Anfield followed a dominant 6-0 Champions League victory over Qarabag.
In that Champions League game, Salah scored his first goal for the club since November 1. The Egyptian is having a poor campaign. But the scenario was completely different last season.
Salah was perhaps at his best and helped Liverpool win the Premier League in Arne Slot’s first season in charge at Anfield.
Now, reports of a fallout with Arne Slot and Liverpool’s hierarchy earlier in the season raised fresh questions about his long-term future.
That is why Al Ittihad wants to seize the opportunity next summer by signing Mohamed Salah following Karim Benzema’s departure in the winter window.
Benzema’s exit has left a major gap in Al Ittihad’s attacking structure. So, Salah can be the ideal marquee signing to fill that void.
There has been no formal contact between the clubs so far. But Salah is understood to be open to a move if Al-Ittihad can reach an agreement with Liverpool.
That said, Al Ittihad will be cautious because Salah is under contract until 2027. Also, with uncertainty over Slot’s future, signing the Egyptian will not be easy for the Saudi giants.
