Barcelona will hold elections to determine their next president on March 15. So, as usual, presidential candidates are now making promises.
One Barcelona presidential candidate has made a bold promise. The Catalan giants are in a financial crisis. Still, he promised to sign players who will reflect the true ambition of Barcelona.
Also, the candidate promised to end the ‘financial chaos’ and return to the 1:1 rule. On X, Xavier Vilajoana also posted an image of Harry Kane wearing a Barcelona shirt, signalling his intention.
The Barcelona presidential candidate said in his post (after translating to English):
“Caring for our La Masia players has been my utmost priority, but we will always need the ability to attract elite talent.
“We can make it happen. By putting an end to financial chaos and returning to the 1:1 rule. A signing for me is a signing for an ambitious Barcelona.”
There was a time when the Blaugrana used to go after top signings. They made big-money moves for the likes of Philippe Coutinho and Ousmane Dembele.
However, currently they are struggling financially. They are relying heavily on La Masia to produce players who can deliver for the first team.
Lamine Yamal, Pedri, Gavi, Fermin Lopez, and Pau Cubarsi are just a few examples of the top talents that La Masia has produced in the last few years.
But Vilajoana intends to bring back the trend of securing marquee signings at Barcelona, along with nurturing La Masia. And he wants to start with Harry Kane’s signing.
