Manchester City will travel to Elland Road to take on Leeds United in the Premier League. With a win in this match, City could go just two points behind Arsenal in the title race.
Arsenal will play Chelsea on Sunday, and the Citizens will be hoping that the Blues could do them a favour by making the Gunners drop points.
However, the focus for Pep Guardiola will be on their game at Elland Road. Ahead of the game, the Manchester City boss sat down for the press conference.
The Spaniard gave an update on Jeremy Doku’s fitness. The Belgian has been out of action since City’s Champions League clash against Galatasaray. He has been recovering from a calf injury.
Now, Pep Guardiola was asked about his recovery, and the Manchester City manager said:
“Yesterday he [Doku] made the first training.”
However, he seemed uncertain about whether Doku would feature for the Citizens in this match. Guardiola informed:
“I don’t know, we’ll talk with the doctors and officials afterwards.”
Also, Pep Guardiola talked about his players who are observing Ramadan, a Muslim faith fast during the daylight hours.
The Manchester City boss said that the club have taken all steps to ensure that their players can follow their belief and still stay at the best shape to perform at the highest level. He said:
“They follow this religious tradition and we have good nutritionists who adapt for what the team needs,” he began.
“I think they’re used to it, they’re not young and used to playing in this period.
“It’s not their first time and we know how to handle it.
“They’re in touch with the doctors and will adapt but they know what to do.”
Manchester City are currently on an eight-game unbeaten streak, and Guardiola will hope that his team can stretch that to nine games.
