Liverpool supporters could still get the farewell moment many feared would never happen this season.

Injuries during the closing weeks of the campaign created growing concern that one of the club’s biggest modern legends may already have played his final match at Anfield.

Mohamed Salah picked up a muscle issue late in April, raising fears he would miss the remainder of the season completely ahead of his expected summer departure.

Now, however, Arne Slot has delivered a major update. Speaking ahead of Liverpool’s trip to Aston Villa, Slot confirmed Mohamed Salah should return to action on Friday night.

The Liverpool manager admitted the Egyptian is not yet fully ready but revealed he is expected to make a short appearance from the bench. Slot said:

“Mo will be available tomorrow but only for a few minutes. Hopefully he can come in.”

The update means Salah remains on course to feature at Anfield next week in what could become his final home appearance for Liverpool.

The Egyptian will leave the club this summer after a hugely successful spell on Merseyside. Slot also discussed uncertainty surrounding several other senior Liverpool players ahead of the summer.

The Dutchman praised Andy Robertson before the defender’s expected farewell but refused to confirm whether more departures are coming.

Questions also continue surrounding Ibrahima Konate, whose current contract is approaching its final weeks. The Liverpool manager said:

“If there is a resolution then we will tell the world. At the moment, not yet.”

Meanwhile, speculation also continues around Alisson Becker after reports linked the goalkeeper with a move to Juventus.

Slot avoided discussing the rumours directly and instead urged Liverpool supporters to continue backing the Brazilian regardless of what happens this summer.
