Cesc Fabregas has finally addressed the growing links with the Chelsea job. The former midfielder has emerged as one of the names under consideration following Liam Rosenior’s departure.

His rise in management has not gone unnoticed, and his connection with Chelsea has only added to the speculation. But his current club do not want to lose him.

Como have enjoyed a strong season under Fabregas. He guided them into the top half and kept them in the hunt for European football, which has raised his profile across Europe.

Despite that, the club have made their position clear. President Mirwan Suwarso admitted he would not block a move if Chelsea came calling. He said (via CITYAM):

“You want your employees to stay with you for as long as possible but at the end of the day we don’t own him and he’s free to go to Chelsea if he wishes.”

Also, Fabregas has now responded. Speaking after Rosenior’s exit, he dismissed the rumours and made his stance clear. He said (via Evening Standard):

“Nothing to say about that.

“It’d be stupid to think about that now, my focus is on the next game against Genoa.

“I believe I will continue my chapter as Como head coach and focus on the next games.”

He doubled down on that message. Fabregas added:

“I would be crazy to think of anything else rather than these next five games and getting my team into Europe for the first time in history.”

His focus remains firmly on Como’s season. The Italian side sit fifth and continue to push for a Champions League spot.

Fabregas has built a disciplined and organised team, with one of the best defensive records in the league.

That work has made him one of the most sought-after young managers. Chelsea remain interested, but for now, Cesc Fabregas has made his position clear.
