Chelsea have been hit by a transfer ban after breaching the Premier League rules. The Blues will also pay a £10.75 million fine.
This comes at a time when the Blues are struggling in the Premier League season. Chelsea lost against Newcastle United on Saturday and are behind in the race for the Champions League.
Also, they have a crucial game against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League last 16. The Blues already lost the first leg in France by 5-2.
This season, Chelsea will have a very tough task at their hands when they take on the defending Champions of Europe at Stamford Bridge.
Now, with this transfer ban, the Blues have suffered another setback. The Blues admitted making £47 million in secret payments to third parties and unregistered agents.
This went on from 2011 to 2018. These payments were made during the transfers of Samuel Eto’o, Eden Hazard, Willian, Andre Schurrle, David Luiz and Nemanja Matic.
Apart from that, the Blues will have an academy transfer ban because of discrepancies during the registration of academy players during the period from 2019 to 2022.
Now, according to Ben Jacobs, Chelsea have reportedly accepted their punishment, and as a result, they will be unable to sign first-team players for a year.
This will be a massive setback, and the Blues will now have to rethink their transfer plans. They were planning to sell a number of their current players.
But with this transfer ban, Liam Rosenior and the Chelsea hierarchy will have to make plans once again for the next season.
