Chelsea return to Premier League action on Saturday afternoon when they host Brighton & Hove Albion at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues ended a three-game winless streak in midweek with a 2-1 comeback victory over Lincoln City in the EFL Cup.
However, a league defeat to Manchester United last weekend left Enzo Maresca’s side in sixth place, only three points clear of Brighton in 14th.
The Blues will now look to strengthen their position by winning this Chelsea vs Brighton game.
But their squad is dealing with several injury concerns. Here is the latest Chelsea injury news ahead of clash against Brighton.
Chelsea injury news
Cole Palmer
Cole Palmer is a major doubt for the Brighton clash. He picked up a groin issue against Manchester United. That was why Enzo Maresca had to substitute him early.
Palmer missed the midweek EFL Cup match against Lincoln City. Reports suggest that the former Manchester City man could be sidelined until after the October international break.
Liam Delap
Liam Delap is unavailable. The striker suffered a hamstring injury in late August and has been ruled out until December.
Benoit Badiashile
Benoit Badiashile has not featured since the Club World Cup due to a muscle problem.
The centre-back has only recently returned to training. He could make the substitutes’ bench, but his involvement remains uncertain.
Romeo Lavia
Romeo Lavia is in a similar situation to Badiashile. The midfielder has been out with a muscle injury. But he may return to the bench for one of Chelsea’s upcoming fixtures.
Levi Colwill
Levi Colwill remains sidelined. The defender underwent knee surgery in August. He is not expected back until the closing weeks of the season.
Dario Essugo
Dario Essugo picked up a thigh injury while on international duty with Portugal Under-21s earlier this month. He is not expected to return until early next year.
Marc Guiu
Marc Guiu is also a major doubt. Maresca confirmed that the forward sustained a knock before the Lincoln game, and his place in the squad is uncertain.
Josh Acheampong
Josh Acheampong was due to start against Lincoln but missed out due to illness. His recovery timeline is unclear, and his involvement against Brighton is in doubt.
Chelsea suspension list
Chelsea do not have any new suspensions. Robert Sanchez has served his one-match ban. However, Mykhaylo Mudryk remains unavailable due to a provisional doping ban.
Maresca will face difficult decisions with so many players either ruled out or doubtful.
The Chelsea boss may be forced to rely on younger options from the bench when Brighton visit Stamford Bridge.
