Chelsea suffer fresh injury blow

One of their key players has sustained a freakish injury.

Enzo Maresca

Chelsea won the FIFA Club World Cup this July in the USA. It was their second trophy under Enzo Maresca after winning the Conference League.

Now, Chelsea fans want to see their team challenging for the Premier League title. The Blues are not yet out of the title race.

They are currently occupying the third spot in the Premier League table. The Blues are just six points behind Arsenal, who are at the top of the table.

Also, there is still a long way to go this season. And, anything can happen in the Premier League. However, Enzo Maresca needs a fit squad to challenge for the title.

The Blues will face Burnley this weekend at Turf Moor. They will be looking for a positive result in that game to gain momentum for the two tough games that will follow.

Chelsea will face Barcelona in their next Champions League fixture and will face Arsenal the following week in the Premier League.

Fixtures will come thick and fast now, and one of their key players has sustained a freakish injury that might keep him out of the next few games.

Cole Palmer will not play in any of the upcoming fixtures. BBC Sport later reported that he fractured the small toe on his left foot after stubbing it against a door.

Maresca tried to lighten the moment by joking about how often he bumps into things during the night. But the reality is harsh.

Chelsea now face some of their biggest games of the season without the player who has been their creative heartbeat.

There is at least one silver lining. With eight more matches still to come in December, the enforced rest may give Palmer a better chance of avoiding further complications.

Chelsea now wait for the swelling to settle, the fracture to heal, and their star to return when the risk is finally gone.
