Chelsea earned a 2-0 win against Fulham in the early Premier League kickoff.
Goals from João Pedro and Enzo Fernández saw Chelsea go home with three points with a Josh King goal for Fulham controversially ruled out.
This was a much talked about decision, in another afternoon with dropped points for Marco Silva’s side as they still await their first win.
Today’s West London Derby win came at a cost for Chelsea, with summer signing Liam Delap exiting the game through injury just 12 minutes into the game.
With less than 48 hours left of the summer transfer window, this does not give Chelsea much time to find a replacement.
Tyrique George came off the bench in Delap’s place, but he has been linked with a move to AS Roma, with talks underway between them and Chelsea.
Barcelona attacking midfielder Fermín López has been strongly rumoured with a move to Chelsea, and could help fix this area of the pitch.
They will need to act quick before the transfer deadline hits.
Enzo Maresca gives update on Liam Delap injury
Speaking with TNT Sports, Maresca stated that Delap will be out for six to eight weeks.
For Delap, this is a bitter blow for the youngster after his big move from Ipswich.
He impressed last season despite relegation, and this was a campaign that caught Maresca and Chelsea’s eye.
He had earned himself a second successive start, after Chelsea dominated West Ham last week.
With this set back of around two months, this is far from ideal for Delap and Chelsea.
