Trent Alexander-Arnold came back to Anfield for the first time after moving to Real Madrid this summer. But it was Alexis Mac Allister who stole the show for Liverpool.
The Reds hosted the Los Blancos in a much-anticipated clash in the Champions League. This game was special because of the return of Alexander-Arnold to his boyhood club.
However, it was the 6-time Champions League winners who got the better of the 15-time Champions League winners.
It was a closely contested game, and in the end, it was the header of Alexis Mac Allister that proved to be the difference maker as Liverpool grabbed three points at Anfield.
After scoring the goal, many fans have noticed that Mac Allister did a certain gesture to mock Trent Alexander-Arnold.
When he was at Liverpool, Trent used to do an ‘A’ celebration with his fingers. And Alexis Mac Allister did the same thing after netting the winner against Real Madrid.
Some fans believe that the 26-year-old did this just to mock Trent. However, Mac Allister or Trent is not the only player who does this celebration.
There are so many other players, such as Jack Grealish, Ben Chilwell, Gareth Bale, Dele Alli, and many others.
In the noughties, players used to pay tribute to the A-Star organisation of Fitz Hall and Andrew Johnson. The organisation used to fight against youth violence.
Whether Alexis Mac Allister intentionally did that to mock Trent Alexander-Arnold is still unknown. However, it was evident from the start that the homecoming of the 27-year-old will not be merry.
Liverpool fans booed Trent heavily from the start. However, Trent knew what to expect, and that is before the game, he told Amazon Prime (via The Sun):
“Whichever way I’m received there is the decision of the fans. I’ll always love the club, I’ll always be a fan of the club.”
