Former Liverpool star turns to LinkedIn to find new club

The London-based midfielder invited clubs or contacts aware of suitable opportunities to contact him directly through the platform.

A former Liverpool player has taken an unusual approach to finding his next club after becoming a free agent this summer.

Ovie Ejaria has used professional networking platform LinkedIn to advertise his availability and invite enquiries from interested clubs.

His search comes several years after leaving Liverpool, where he progressed through the academy before reaching the senior side.

He made his first-team debut in 2016, replacing Roberto Firmino during a 3-0 Carabao Cup victory over Derby County.

The midfielder eventually made eight senior appearances for Liverpool. His four-year spell also included loan moves to Sunderland, Rangers and Reading.

The 28-year-old subsequently joined Reading permanently in 2020 before leaving the club four years later.

In a post on LinkedIn, former Liverpool midfielder Ovie Ejaria announced that he is a free agent and looking for a new opportunity.

Ejaria spent last season with Real Oviedo following the Spanish club’s promotion to LaLiga. However, his contract expired after their relegation to the second tier.

The midfielder made eight appearances for Real Oviedo during the campaign as they finished bottom of LaLiga with 29 points.

Ejaria accompanied his LinkedIn announcement with footage from his appearance against Atletico Madrid last season.

He also outlined the positions he can cover for any clubs considering an approach.

Ejaria listed central midfield as his primary position, including roles as a 6, 8 or 10. He also identified left wing as a secondary position.

The London-based midfielder invited clubs or contacts aware of suitable opportunities to contact him directly through the platform.

Ejaria originally joined Liverpool’s academy from Arsenal in 2014 before progressing into the first-team setup.

Now available without a club, he has turned to LinkedIn as he searches for the next opportunity of his career.
