Meanwhile, the alleged attack took place near a golf club in Merseyside last month. The situation quickly escalated after a reported confrontation.

At the same time, the victim, Kevin Lynch, was rushed to hospital. He suffered injuries to his face and ribs.

Doctors later confirmed that he remains in a serious but stable condition. However, there is a risk he could lose sight in one eye.

Meanwhile, Joey Barton appeared at Liverpool Crown Court via videolink from HMP Liverpool. He faces a charge of assault occasioning grievous bodily harm.

However, the former Premier League footballer has now entered his plea. According to the BBC, Barton pleaded not guilty to the alleged offence.

At the same time, his co-accused Gary O’Grady, also appeared in court. He faces the same charge but did not enter a plea.

Meanwhile, the court heard further details about the incident. A revelation came out that the victim was drinking with the defendants at the golf club on March 8.

Barton has been remanded in custody ahead of a provisional trial set for September 1.

Meanwhile, his football career once saw him play at the highest level. He began at Manchester City in 2002 and made 150 appearances.

He later moved to Newcastle United, then Queens Park Rangers. Barton also spent time on loan at Marseille and played for Burnley.

However, his career also included controversy. His time at Rangers ended after just eight games following issues with teammates and staff.
