Jurgen Klopp managed Mohamed Salah for seven seasons at Liverpool. Their partnership began in 2017 and ended in 2024 with the departure of Klopp.
Under Jurgen Klopp, Mohamed Salah made close to 350 appearances for the club scoring over 200 goals in that time.
Also, Klopp and Salah won every major trophy possible for the club. But after Klopp’s departure in 2024, Arne Slot took charge of Liverpool.
And, in his first season in charge, the Dutch manager won the Premier League. However, this season, things are different.
Liverpool are going through a bad patch. And Arne Slot dropped Mohamed Salah because of his poor form.
However, the Egyptian came out after the Leeds United game and said that the club is throwing him under the bus.
Jamie Carragher called Salah’s comments ‘a disgrace’. Former Manchester United forward Wayne Rooney said that Salah is throwing the club under the bus.
Also, a former Liverpool midfielder, Steven Gerrard, seemed sympathetic to Mohamed Salah’s situation.
Now, his former manager Jurgen Klopp has voiced his opinion on this matter. Klopp spoke about Salah in a recent BBC documentary about the Egyptian. The German manager said:
“I wouldn’t say he is easy to manage, but he is also not difficult to manage. You [only] have problems with Mo Salah if he is not playing or you take him off.”
Klopp also praised his work ethic, which makes Salah ‘one of the greatest of all time’. He said:
“After each summer break he came back and had a new skill. It was like he had spent the whole time just practising one particular type of pass.
“We pushed each other, just to make sure that we would never stop. And we never did stop.”
Salah was left out of the Liverpool squad that beat Inter Milan in the Champions League. So, it will be interesting to see whether he gets a chance against Brighton at Anfield.
Many are speculating that the Brighton game could be his last appearance for Liverpool if he does play. After that game, he will fly to Morocco to represent Egypt in the AFCON.
