Kylian Mbappe enjoyed another remarkable individual season at Real Madrid despite enduring a frustrating campaign collectively.
The France captain scored 40 goals and provided six assists in 42 appearances across all competitions.
He won the Pichichi Trophy for the second consecutive season and finished as the Champions League’s top scorer with 15 goals.
Mbappe also equalled Cristiano Ronaldo’s Real Madrid record of 59 goals in a calendar year during December 2025.
However, Real Madrid failed to convert those performances into silverware.
The Spanish giants finished a second straight season without a major trophy and endured significant turmoil behind the scenes.
Xabi Alonso left the club midway through the campaign after reportedly losing the dressing room. Alvaro Arbeloa then struggled to steady the situation following his appointment.
Real Madrid also suffered a shock Copa del Rey exit and fell short in the Champions League.
Tensions within the squad escalated further when Federico Valverde and Aurelien Tchouameni became involved in a training-ground altercation.
As a result, Florentino Perez appointed Jose Mourinho on a three-year contract after securing re-election as club president.
While major changes continue at the Bernabeu, Mbappe has also overseen significant developments away from Madrid.
The France international owns an 80% stake in French club Stade Malherbe Caen through Coalition Capital.
Now, the club have confirmed a major restructuring following a disastrous period on and off the pitch.
Caen officially announced the departures of technical director Pascal Plancque and recruitment director Reda Hammache by mutual agreement.
The decision follows one of the most difficult periods in the club’s recent history.
Caen suffered relegation to the Championnat National and dropped into France’s third tier for the first time in four decades.
The club’s struggles came despite huge expectations following Mbappe’s takeover in 2024.
Caen now hope fresh leadership can help restore stability and guide the club back towards professional football.
