It is not often that a football icon steps off the pitch and into a courtroom.
Yet, that is exactly what has happened now.
Kylian Mbappe, now a Real Madrid player, has filed a legal complaint against his former club Paris Saint-Germain.
This sudden move has stirred tension once again between the French superstar and the Parisian giants.
On the surface, everything seemed to calm down after his move to Spain.
But behind closed doors, things were boiling.
Mbappe took action earlier this week by filing a complaint against an unnamed individual.
The investigation is being taken seriously, with two judges already assigned to handle the matter.
So far, the player’s legal team has remained quiet in public.
But reports in France, as shared by AS, suggest that this case goes far deeper than fans might have expected.
Those around Mbappe say the situation began in 2023.
That year, PSG left the player out of the squad during pre-season.
He was left training away from the main group, away from the spotlight, and away from matchday action.
He was neither injured nor out of form. Kylian Mbappe was simply left out.
At the time, fans were confused. Some thought it was a tactical move by the club.
Others assumed it had something to do with his contract. But now, the full picture is emerging.
Mbappe believes PSG tried to force him to sign a new contract by isolating him from the team.
His legal team calls it moral harassment and attempted extortion.
They say the club sent him to train with unwanted players in a separate group, commonly called a “loft”, until he agreed to fresh terms.
This method, now under the spotlight in France, has sparked controversy before.
But this case could change everything.
According to AS, Mbappe is also claiming €55 million in unpaid wages and loyalty bonuses from last season.
This story is just beginning with more expected to follow in the coming weeks.
