Leeds United began their 2026–27 Premier League campaign with a hard-fought 1–0 victory over Nottingham Forest.
Anton Stach scored in the 88th minute at the City Ground to secure all three points for Daniel Farke’s side.
The result continued the positive momentum Leeds had built during an encouraging pre-season campaign.
Farke’s side beat Liverpool 4–2 before recording victories against RB Leipzig and FC Augsburg during their preparations.
They also drew 1–1 with Manchester United at Croke Park before narrowly losing the exhibition match on penalties.
Meanwhile, Leeds strengthened their squad with James Trafford and Tarik Muharemovic ahead of their Premier League return.
However, an off-field incident involving the club’s ownership has now attracted attention away from their promising start.
The York family controls Leeds through 49ers Enterprises, while Paraag Marathe operates as the club’s chairman.
According to WKBN, Leeds United co-owner John “Jed” York was arrested on Sunday in East Palestine, Ohio.
Court documents state that York responded to an undercover law enforcement advertisement on a known prostitution website.
An agent from the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force had posted the advertisement as part of an operation.
York then arranged sexual activity with a woman for $140 before travelling to the agreed location.
Authorities took York into custody after he arrived carrying the phone that he had used to arrange the meeting.
York later posted a $5,000 bond before entering no-contest pleas to disorderly conduct and possessing criminal tools.
He initially faced an engaging in prostitution charge, but a plea agreement reduced that charge to disorderly conduct.
The court handed York two concurrent jail days and credited him for one day that he had already served.
Additionally, York must pay $1,150 in fines, while authorities will keep $160 seized during the incident.
York also asked the court to seal documents connected to the case. However, the court rejected his request.
