Chelsea will host Burnley in their next Premier League fixture this weekend at Stamford Bridge. It will be a crucial game for the Blues as a win would take them to the fourth spot in the table.
Liam Rosenior is desperate to secure a Champions League spot next season. For that, he is in a race with Liverpool and Manchester United.
The reigning Premier League champions will take on Nottingham Forest at the City Ground. Liverpool lost against Forest at Anfield.
Similarly, Manchester United will take on Everton at Hill Dickinson Stadium, and they lost to the Toffees at Old Trafford.
Thus, if the results are similar, the Blues could get an edge in the race by winning against Burnley. So, this will be a very important game for Chelsea.
That is why Liam Rosenior will be looking to have his best players available for the game. But, unfortunately, he will not have Marc Cucurella in this game.
The Spaniard suffered a hamstring injury during the game against Leeds United. He also missed Chelsea’s FA Cup tie against Hull City last weekend.
Liam Rosenior gave an update on Cucurella during his press conference for the game against Burnley. The Chelsea boss said (quotes via football.london):
“I can’t give an exact timeframe on Marc. He suffered a hamstring injury. It’s a real shame because he’s one of the best left-backs in the world.”
The former Strasbourg manager also informed about the players he has at his disposal to replace Cucurella for this game. Rosenior informed:
“We have Jorrel [Hato] and Malo [Gusto] who can cover.”
Missing Cucurella will be a huge setback for Chelsea. However, Liam Rosenior will be hoping his replacements can deliver a decent performance against Burnley.
