Chelsea are slipping at the worst possible time. Four straight Premier League defeats have dragged the Blues down to sixth place.
Their hopes of securing Champions League football now hang by a thread. That run has also increased the pressure on Liam Rosenior.
The Chelsea boss faces an uncertain future, with doubts growing around whether he will remain in charge beyond the season.
Reports suggest the club have already started looking at potential replacements as they search for stability.
Now, the situation has become even more complicated. Chelsea suffered another blow during their 1-0 defeat to Manchester United at Stamford Bridge. The biggest concern came early in the match.
Teenage star Estevao Willian limped off just 18 minutes into the game. The 18-year-old looked in serious discomfort and struggled to continue. After the match, Rosenior did not hide his concern.
“He was devastated, he was crying at half-time.
“(I’m) really devastated for him, it looks like it’s his hamstring.
“And that’s a moment actually when he’s running through on goal he pulls his hamstring in that moment.”
The injury could prove a major setback. Estevao has impressed during his debut season in England and has already earned recognition at international level with Brazil.
Chelsea then faced another scare late in the game. Enzo Fernandez, who had just returned to the side, also went off with a problem. Rosenior offered a more hopeful update on the midfielder.
“I think it was his calf. I’m hoping it was cramp, we need him for Tuesday.”
Chelsea now prepare for a crucial trip to Brighton. But with injuries piling up and pressure building, Rosenior faces a defining period.
