Chelsea are in crisis at the worst possible moment in this season. Last night, they lost to Brighton away by 3-0. It was Chelsea’s fifth straight loss in the Premier League.
This loss will surely add to the already mounting pressure on Liam Rosenior. The Blues changed their manager towards the end of last year.
After falling out with the board, Enzo Maresca decided to part ways with the club. During the reign of the Italian, the Blues won two trophies.
First, they secured the UEFA Conference League, and after that, the Blues won the FIFA Club World Cup, which is surely Maresca’s most significant achievement as the Chelsea boss.
However, since his departure, the club have been in a downward spiral. Recently, the Blues were humiliated by PSG in the Champions League.
Now, there is still hope for Chelsea to secure a trophy this season. They will take on Leeds United in the FA Cup semi-final this weekend.
A win in this game will give the Blues a shot at a title at Wembley Stadium against the winners of the semi-final between Manchester City and Southampton.
However, the loss to Brighton could be a massive blow to Liam Rosenior’s future at Chelsea. According to Kaveh Solhekol from Sky Sports, Rosenior’s position at the club remains ‘touch and go’.
Also, the Blues are facing backlash from the fans. So, this instability could hurt Chelsea’s quest to secure Champions League football next season.
The Blues are currently in the seventh position with 48 points. They are 7 points behind Liverpool, having played a game extra. Chelsea’s next Premier League game will be against Nottingham Forest.
“I think it’s touch and go whether he remains as Chelsea head coach” 😬
