Michail Antonio found guilty in court

While things are looking up again on the field, away from it there’s not so good news.

Michail Antonio has had quite the journey over the last couple of years.

A West Ham United cult hero, Antonio left the club after 10 years in 2025 when his contract expired following a horror road traffic accident in 2024.

As he looked to get his football career back on track, he trained with Leicester City and was even offered a contract by Brentford, only for an injury to scupper the move.

Qatar was ultimately where Antonio returned to competitive football earlier this year, joining Al-Sailiya before recently returning to the UK to sign a one-year deal with Championship side Watford.

The 36-year-old was on the bench for Watford’s 2-1 defeat to Stoke City last week and will be hoping to make his return to English football sooner rather than later.

While things are looking up again on the pitch, Antonio has now received some unwelcome news away from it.

Watford Observer report that Michail Antonio has been found guilty of failing to identify the driver of his Lamborghini following an alleged motoring offence in central London.

Metropolitan Police had requested information from Antonio after the Lamborghini was allegedly seen being driven without due care and attention on Pall Mall.

Antonio told Uxbridge Magistrates’ Court that he had not been driving the vehicle at the time. He said he had loaned the Lamborghini to his cousin, who runs a vehicle hire company, and believed his cousin had provided authorities with the identity of the person who was behind the wheel.

However, Antonio was found guilty of failing to provide information relating to the identification of the driver when required to do so.

The offence resulted in another six penalty points being added to his driving licence, triggering an automatic six-month driving ban.

Michail Antonio was also ordered to pay a £1,000 fine, £650 in prosecution costs and a £400 victim surcharge.

The Watford Observer further report that Antonio faces a separate charge of failing to provide information to West Midlands Police in relation to an alleged speeding offence involving the Lamborghini. He is reportedly due to stand trial over that matter in March 2027.

Antonio will now be hoping to put his off-field issues to one side as he focuses on getting back on the pitch for Watford.

Watford face Bristol City this evening before the international break.

Jamaica have not called up Antonio for their upcoming CONCACAF Nations League fixtures, giving the 36-year-old additional time to work on his fitness with his new club during the break.
