Mohamed Salah scored his first hat-trick of the season as Trabzonspor thrashed Galatasaray 4-0 in the Turkish Super Lig.
Galatasaray had started the season unbeaten, but they were comprehensively swept aside as Salah produced a stunning individual performance, scoring three goals and setting up another.
It’s been a mixed start to the campaign for Trabzonspor, who entered the game having won two, drawn one and lost two of their opening five league matches.
But just like he did at Liverpool, the Egyptian King has continued to be relied upon for goals and his hat-trick against Galatasaray took him to seven in six league appearances for his new club.
It appears Salah is picking up in Türkiye where he left off in England, finding the net with the kind of regularity Liverpool supporters became accustomed to during his nine years at Anfield.
While things are certainly looking up on the pitch, Salah has now received some unwelcome news away from football relating to his time in England.
The Sun reports that Mohamed Salah has been banned from driving for six months after a Rolls-Royce registered to him was caught speeding in Wilmslow, Cheshire.
Court documents show that the vehicle was recorded travelling at 36mph in a 30mph zone on March 27, with Salah subsequently failing to provide police with the identity of the person who had been driving.
The timing of the incident is particularly notable as it came just three days after Liverpool announced that Salah would leave the club at the end of the 2025/26 season.
According to court documents, the Egyptian international did not respond to the notice of prosecution brought by Cheshire Constabulary and did not enter a plea.
Salah was subsequently prosecuted at Warrington Combined Court under the Single Justice Procedure and convicted of failing to provide information relating to the identification of the driver.
The 34-year-old was handed a six-month driving ban and ordered to pay a total of £1,044.
The conviction relates to Salah’s failure to identify the driver rather than the original speeding offence, with the available court documents not establishing that the former Liverpool forward was behind the wheel at the time.
For Salah, attention will now turn back to matters on the pitch after a memorable weekend for his new club.
Mohamed Salah is next in action on Friday, when Egypt face Angola in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.
