Mohamed Salah had to sit on the bench at Parc des Princes and see PSG beat Liverpool by 2-0 in the Champions League quarter-final. Arne Slot made five changes in that game.
However, Salah was not one of those substitutes. So, the Egyptian was clearly frustrated to sit out the entire game without getting a chance to make an impact on the result.
It is astonishing to see the fall of Mohamed Salah. The Egyptian last season won the Premier League golden boot and had perhaps the best season by a Premier League footballer.
He, arguably, won the Premier League for Liverpool single-handedly. However, this season, the story has been quite different. Salah is not at the top of his game.
Also, his relationship with Arne Slot is not what it used to be last year because of the Dutch manager continuously snubbing him.
So, at the end of the game, Salah was finishing his warm-down when he saw Steven Gerrard, Steve McManaman, and Laura Woods doing their post-match show on TNT Sports.
All three expected Salah to give an interview. However, Salah’s gesture completely told that the Egyptian was not in the mood for the interview.
After shaking hands with all three, he left the scene. Following this incident, Gerrard summed up how Salah would be feeling after seeing the entire game from the bench. He said:
“(Salah will be) frustrated. He’ll be sitting there thinking he’d back himself to influence this game and improve proceedings, certainly from an attacking point of view.
“He’ll be a little bit sad and frustrated. But credit to him because he’s just stayed behind there and done some extra running.
“In his mind he’s already got his mind on Fulham (on Saturday) and he’s doing extra work which shows the pro and the mentality that you’re dealing with.”
“He’ll be a little frustrated”
