Chelsea’s new head coach Liam Rosenior has been convicted in a court hearing in England. The club recently dismissed Enzo Maresca, paving the way for Rosenior’s appointment.
The former Strasbourg head coach has signed a six-and-a-half-year contract at Stamford Bridge. He will begin his tenure on Wednesday against Fulham.
In his first statement after taking the job, Rosenior spoke of his pride at joining the club. He described the role as an honour and stressed his commitment to protecting Chelsea’s identity.
“I am extremely humbled and honoured to be appointed Head Coach of Chelsea Football Club,” Rosenior said.
“My job is to protect that identity and create a team that reflects these values in every game we play.”
Now a magistrate has now convicted Rosenior and ordered him to pay a total of £1,052 in fines, costs, and court fees.
The incident dates back to July, when Rosenior admitted to driving at 36mph in a 30mph zone in Derbyshire.
He initially had the option of attending a speed awareness course, which would have allowed him to avoid criminal prosecution.
However, Rosenior was unable to attend the course. A delay to his return flight from France prevented him from being present, and the matter went to court.
According to Sky News, fog delayed Rosenior’s flight back from Strasbourg, where he had been working at the time.
The former defender explained to the court that the absence was due to unforeseen circumstances.
The case was resolved shortly after Rosenior returned to England to take up his new role at Chelsea.
Rosenior also emphasised unity and teamwork as core principles. He said those values would form the foundation of his project.
For now, the legal matter is over, allowing Liam Rosenior to focus fully on his new challenge in west London.
