Newcastle United have been dealt another worrying injury concern at a crucial stage of the season, with fears growing over one of their key players.

The issue emerged during last week’s 2-1 defeat to Bournemouth. The defender was forced off with a thigh problem, immediately raising concerns within the camp.

With the season nearing its conclusion, Newcastle are unsure whether he will feature again before the campaign ends.

At the same time, attention has already shifted towards the upcoming World Cup, where his place is now under threat.

Speaking about the situation, Eddie Howe provided an update on Tino Livramento’s injury. He said:

“With Tino, he went for a scan initially. We don’t think it’s a bad injury. We’ll wait and see whether he’ll play again this season.

“He’s due to have another scan at the weekend, and that will determine the full extent of it.”

That uncertainty leaves both club and country in a difficult position. Livramento has already represented England this year, featuring in friendlies against Uruguay and Japan.

His versatility across both full-back roles has made him a valuable option heading into the tournament.

However, this season has been far from smooth. Injuries have disrupted his progress, limiting him to just 14 Premier League starts.

That lack of consistent game time has prevented him from building rhythm. Howe acknowledged the frustration surrounding his campaign. He said:

“Tino’s very level-headed, very stable mentally. He’s had a frustrating season, such a good season last year.

“He was outstanding, was fit and available and really contributed to what we delivered. This year’s been different, and that’s just the life of a footballer I’m afraid.

He’s never been able to get that run of games to really find his best form. An outstanding player, we just hope he has a better run of health.”

Now, Newcastle United and England both face an anxious wait over Tino Livramento’s fitness.
