Robert Lewandowski is one of the greatest strikers of his generation.

Since making his professional debut for Delta Warsaw in 2005, he has gone on to play 823 games at club level.

This includes spells with giants such as Borussia Dortmund, Bayern Munich and FC Barcelona.

In these 823 games, he has recorded 610 goals and 155 assists.

This is in addition to 85 goals for the Polish national team.

He has an impressive collection of silverware, with 10 Bundesliga titles, four DFB-Pokal final wins, two La Liga titles, a Copa del Rey and the UEFA Champions League in 2020.

Individually, Lewandowski has also picked up an array of awards.

He has twice won the European Golden Shoe, has been a Champions League top goal scorer, won 12 Polish Footballer of the Year awards, and was named Bundesliga Player of the Season twice.

On three occasions he was named Bayern Player of the Season, has been in multiple Bundesliga and La Liga Team of the Season line-ups and was named The Best FIFA Men’s Player in 2020 and 2021.

There is also a collecting feeling that he was harshly treated when the Ballon d’Or ceremony was cancelled in 2020 due to COVID-19. He was seen as a shoo-in for the award.

Since going Barcelona, Lewandowski has not missed a beat, carrying on the impressive spell he had in Germany.

His absence through injury in the Champions League semi-final loss to Inter Milan last season was evident, despite the best efforts of Raphinha and Lamine Yamal.

With just a year left of his contract at Barcelona and at the age of 34, there has been a lot of speculation regarding the Polish international’s future in Spain.

Robert Lewandowski speaks on FC Barcelona future

Speaking to Mundo Deportivo, Lewandowski spoke to the media as his contract situation was a topic of conversation.

He said: “The most important thing is the titles we want to win.

“I can help with my performances, but the important thing is the team’s objective. This year is going to be more difficult , because every team wants to beat us.

“We’re here to prepare well for the season, and we can improve things. We have to take a step forward and improve things,” he stated. He clarified that “football is always evolving, and we have to work on solutions.”

“There are a lot of things on my mind . For me, the important thing isn’t what happens at the end of the season, but what I can do this season. I’m calm, let’s look at this season first.”

Lewandowski also spoke on new teammate Marcus Rashford and about hopes and aims for the season.

He said: “He’s a player with enormous talent. I remember we played against Manchester United and Marcus was in very good form. He can help us and can play in different positions; there are a lot of games and it needs to be that way.”

“There are many factors in the Champions League , such as injuries… we have titles in our heads. The road is very long and we have to think about the next game, not the final.

“We are the team to beat and what we have to do is be better on the pitch. Hansi’s first year was new for many, now we know what direction we want to take.”
