Manchester City midfielder Rodri has been reported to the police following complaints from neighbours about his drone use. However, the situation has not yet resulted in any formal action.
Authorities are currently making enquiries after residents raised concerns about the Spanish star flying a drone near their apartment windows.
According to The Sun, several tenants in a high-rise building in Salford, Greater Manchester, have complained that they saw Rodri’s drone hovering close to their flats.
Some residents claim the device was flying just outside their windows while they were inside their homes.
One resident told The Sun that the situation left them feeling uncomfortable. The resident said:
“I live with my partner on a high floor, and the last thing you expect to see when you’re watching telly is a drone a metre outside the window.
“My wife is very unnerved by it. One of the benefits of living so high up is that you’re not overlooked by anyone, but now we are being plagued by Rodri and his drone.”
Another resident, who lives with his girlfriend on the 34th floor, claimed they noticed a green flashing light outside their window while watching television. He said:
“We have seen it flying outside our window and then flying back to Rodri’s penthouse patio. He has got all the money in the world and spends his time flying his drone into people’s windows.”
Several residents reportedly contacted the building concierge and also raised concerns in a building WhatsApp group. Some believe the drone activity may breach aviation rules or privacy laws.
The Civil Aviation Authority states that drone pilots must respect people’s privacy and avoid causing a nuisance. Operators also need to register and pass a theory test before flying most drones.
Greater Manchester Police confirmed they are looking into the matter. A spokesperson said:
“We have received a complaint, and officers are making enquiries.”
Rodri has been a key part of Manchester City’s success in recent years. The Spanish midfielder also became the world’s best player after winning the 2024 Ballon d’Or.
