Rodri speaks about his Manchester City future

Rodri’s reply will be a concern for the Citizens because he was not definitive that he will be staying at the club.

Rodri

Rodri has been one of the most influential players in the Manchester City squad for the last few years. He played a key role in helping City grab the continental treble in 2023.

As a result, he won the Ballon d’Or in 2024 because of his outstanding performances. Now, his contract with Manchester City will expire in 2027.

Also, the Spaniard has not extended his current deal. It is fair to say that Real Madrid have been a long-term admirer of the Spanish international.

And, they would love to bring him to Santiago Bernabeu as they believe he could help them take control of the midfield.

Now, during an interview with Carrusel Deportivo (via Fabrizio Romano), Rodri was asked about his future at the Premier League club. Rodri said:

“No, no. I’m not going to answer that. It’s a time to think about what we have now, with my team, about my season, which is quite a lot – and then we’ll see.”

Now, Rodri’s reply will be a concern for the Citizens because he was not definitive that he will be staying at the club.

There is no doubt that the Citizens will be hoping to keep the Spaniard at the club beyond 2027. However, they are also lining up alternatives for the midfielder.

That is why they are keeping a close eye on Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest. And, the former Newcastle United midfielder has also picked the Citizens as his next club.
