Back in the winter of this year, Santiago Giménez had some of the most peculiar few weeks a footballer could possibly have.
On the 29th January, he played for Feyenoord in the Champions League against Lille. On the 12th February, he again played in the Champions League. Just this time, against Feyenoord.
That’s right. On the 3rd of February, Giménez joined Milan from Feyenoord, and within nine days he was playing against the Dutch side in European competition.
Alongside Mexican side Cruz Azul, those are the three sides the 24-year old has played for during his career so far.
However, there is at least one more club that he would like to represent before he hangs up his boots.
The striker is still on holiday after winning the Gold Cup with Mexico this summer, and he attended a Boca Juniors game with club legend and chairman Juan Roman Riquelme.
During the game, he told the iconic midfielder, as relayed by MilanNews, that he would “like to play here (Boca Juniors stadium) one day” and that “it would be a dream”.
Despite representing the Mexico senior team, Giménez was born in Argentina to Argentine parents, before moving to Mexico as a child and becoming a naturalized citizen.
So, it is not unlikely that he has been a fan of the Argentine giants since he was a child, making this story check out.
Nevertheless, given the strikers qualities, it is probably a way away yet. He scored five goals in just 676 leagues minutes for a dysfunctional Milan side last season.
With Raul Jiménez currently ahead as first choice striker for the Mexico national team, the Milan forward will be needing to play at the highest level ahead of the World Cup on home soil.
