Manchester United had a horrible outing last season. They finished 15th last season and lost the Europa League final to Tottenham Hotspur.
As a result, the Red Devils are out of European football this season. That is why Ruben Amorim had to make significant changes this summer.
So, the Portuguese manager parted ways with the likes of Alejandro Garnacho, Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, Marcus Rashford, and Rasmus Hojlund.
As replacements, he signed Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, and Benjamin Sesko. Also, Amorim let Andre Onana go as well, and signed Senne Lammens.
This was an important move as the Red Devils were looking for stability in between the sticks. Altay Bayindir looked far from convincing.
However, since Lammens became a regular starter for the Red Devils, things improved drastically. Also, Cunha and Mbeumo are performing. As a result, United are on an upward trajectory.
Now, in a recent interview with Raceday RTV, Sir Alex Ferguson named the most impressive signing of Manchester United this summer. He said:
“There are signs, the manager has had some good signs. Particularly, the goalkeeper has been outstanding. He’s only played three or four games and he’s looking really good.”
The legendary Manchester United boss seemed optimistic about the future of the club under Ruben Amorim. Ferguson said:
“I hope the manager gets a bit of success because at United you need to have success… the signs are getting better.
“I think back-to-back wins is something teams like United should always expect.
“But having gone through a cycle where the improvement has to come by waiting and being patient, they’ll enjoy it now.”
Manchester United will return to action next Monday after the international break when they host David Moyes’ Everton at Old Trafford.
