UEFA have announced a major financial distribution to clubs across Europe following the latest international football cycle.

The governing body’s Club Benefits Programme compensates teams for making their players available for international competitions.

The scheme operates through a memorandum of understanding between UEFA and European Football Clubs, which represents more than 800 clubs across Europe.

UEFA have now officially confirmed that approximately €31.5 million will be distributed to clubs whose players participated in the 2024/25 Nations League.

As per UEFA, the payments represent the first distribution under the current cycle of the Club Benefits Programme.

A total of 611 clubs across UEFA’s member associations will receive money from the latest payment, including several amateur teams.

Compensation for Nations League fixtures and European qualifiers is calculated using a player-per-match system.

Clubs receive €3,845 whenever an eligible player appears on the match sheet for a qualifying Nations League or European qualifier fixture.

RB Leipzig will receive the largest individual payment from the latest distribution after releasing 16 players for international duty.

The Bundesliga club will collect approximately €353,000, giving them the highest compensation among the 611 beneficiaries.

The €31.5 million payment forms part of a significantly larger financial commitment covering several international competitions.

UEFA have allocated €104 million to compensate clubs for releasing players during the 2024/25 and 2026/27 Nations League campaigns.

That allocation also covers the European qualifying competition for Euro 2028.

Meanwhile, the complete Club Benefits Programme cycle linked to Euro 2028 provides for distributions totalling €244 million.

That figure includes €4 million remaining from the previous Euro 2024 programme.

Another €140 million has been reserved for clubs releasing players for the Euro 2028 final tournament.

Unlike the match-based calculation used for the Nations League and qualifying fixtures, compensation during Euro 2028 will operate on a player-per-day basis.

UEFA will make further payments in stages as the competitions covered by the programme reach their respective conclusions.
